New Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz has undergone surgery on his foot. This surgery will keep him off the field for anywhere from 5-12 weeks. It will remove a piece of broken bone that reportedly has been an issue for Wentz since high school.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
That was fast. #Colts QB Carson Wentz will have surgery to repair his foot, per coach Frank Reich. He’s out up to 12 weeks, but could be much less. They will remove a bone in his foot.

The 2021 season will mark Wentz’s first season in a Colts uniform. Previously, he was drafted second overall by the Philadelphia Eagles. He amassed a record of 35-32-1 with the Eagles and led the team to an 11-2 record before suffering a season ending injury in 2017. The team, under backup Nick Foles, went on to win the Super Bowl, giving Wentz a championship.
Out of six seasons, Wentz, now, will have missed games in four of them. He has suffered the aforementioned foot injury, a torn ACL and a back injury. Then-Eagles head coach Doug Pederson benched Wentz in 2020, in favor of rookie Jalen Hurts. The Colts traded for him at the end of that season to replace the retired Philip Rivers.
