After signing Gerald McCoy earlier this week, the Cowboys have added more to their interior defensive line. Dallas has came to a contract agreement with defensive tackle Dontari Poe. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport broke the news that the team and Poe have agreed to basic terms on a deal.
The #Cowboys have agreed to basic terms on a deal for free agent DT Dontari Poe, source said. They are finalizing the language on the deal, but it will get done. Another big-name former #Panthers DT in free agency.

The Cowboys have not yet finalized a deal with Poe, so the numbers of the contract are still unknown. But according to Rapoport, there is no doubt that a deal will get done.
After losing Robert Quinn in free agency, the Cowboys have focused on beefing up their defensive line. Poe is the second defensive lineman Dallas has signed in the past week, the other being McCoy. Poe will add depth and experience to a team who just lost their 2019 sack leader. In addition, the Cowboys still have Pro-Bowler DeMarcus Lawrence coming off the edge.
Poe only played in 11 games in 2019 before suffering a torn quadriceps, which ended his season. Still, in his time playing, the defensive lineman was able to total 22 combined tackles, seven tackles for a loss and four sacks. Although Poe has struggled to recreate some of the seasons he had with the Chiefs early in his career, the defensive tackle will be able to improve the Dallas defensive front.
