The Atlanta Falcons are adding a high-end defensive talent in Dante Fowler, Jr. Fowler, who was previously with the Los Angeles Rams, is reportedly closing in on a deal with Atlanta.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport made the news public via Twitter on Wednesday.
#Rams free agent pass-rusher Dante Fowler is expected to sign with the #Falcons, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. A high-end pass-rusher lands in Atlanta. Coach Dan Quinn actually coached Fowler while at Florida.

Fowler spent the first two and a half years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars before being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2018. He was a free agent before the Falcons signing.
Playing in all 16 games last season, Fowler had 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and 58 combined tackles. The linebacker has been productive, but never elected to a Pro Bowl. All of the previously mentioned 2019 numbers were career highs for the four-year vet.
The Falcons lost defensive end Vic Beasley to free agency. Although they do not play the same position, Fowler is a good alternative, and just as young.
