The 2019 PUBG Global Championship is in full swing, as the group and elimination stages have come to a close. Teams from all over the world fought their hardest to hold on, and move into the semifinals. Tensions are extremely high as all of these teams look to move on and shock the world. Who will move on to the finals, and who will be sent home from their dream competition?
Group 1
The first teams up to bat were those in Group 1. OGN Entus Ace were the first team to grab a Chicken Dinner in the PUBG Global Championship. They had eight kills to their name, and they opened up the day showing everyone just how tough the competition is going to be. After their opening win, they were followed by wins from FaZe Clan, SK telecom T1, Natus Vincere and Tempo Storm. Day one was wrapped up with a big win for Gen.G as they finished off Natus Vincere with a huge 12 kills. At the end of the day, VC Gaming, Infantry Clan, Rascal Jester, Envy, Red Canids, Global Esports Xsset, Armory Gaming and G2 were headed to the elimination round.
Group 2
Group 2 was up next, and the teams were ready to come out strong and impress. TSM came in hot to win the first Chicken Dinner of the day. They pulled through with six kills, knocking off Afreeca Freecs Fatal. Many hard battles followed as Sting Divine, ahq and TSM all picked up wins, with Sting Divine doing a double. The final win of Group 2 went to Genesis. Genesis had been pushing for a win all day, and they final found one. They eliminated OGN Entus Force with a massive 15 kills to their name. The Rumblers, SunSister, CrowCrowd, Wclick, Athletico, Detonator, Team QM and Team Liquid were all sent into the elimination round.
The Elimination Round
Tensions were high as the elimination round kicked off. There is a lot on the line in these final matches. VC Gaming started off their day right with a 12-kill Chicken Dinner. Following that match, Armory Gaming found a much needed win. They held off an assault from The Rumblers in the final seconds of the match. Match three was claimed by Team Liquid, who have been looking to find their form after an unconvincing performance in their first day. With only three matches left, teams will have to remain focused to move on.
Moving On
Match four saw the double for VC Gaming as they picked up their second win of the day. They fought off QM as the circle was closing in to ensure that they secured more points for their cause. GEX found their first Chicken Dinner of the weekend in match five. With the day coming to a close, these points were very important to them. In the end, Red Canids fought off the competition and secured the valuable points. After all of that battling, VC Gaming, GEX, Team QM, The Rumblers, WClick, Red Canids, Infantry Clan and SunSister moved on to the semifinals.
Athletico, CrowCrowd, Team Liquid, Armory Gaming, Rascal Jester, Envy, Detonator and G2 Esports have all been sent home from the PUBG Global Championship. They will be looking to recover, and prepare for the next big competition.
