The New York Yankees have agreed to trade for San Francisco Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos in exchange for minor league infielder Kaeden Kent and left-handed pitcher Henry Lalane, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Ramos, who is in his fifth MLB season, has a career batting average of .257 with 53 home runs and 177 RBIs. This season, he’s slashing .264/.304/.424 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs. Ramos will join a talented Yankees squad that sits 2.5 games behind the first-place Rays in the AL East and is poised to make a playoff run.
In return for Ramos, the Giants are getting Kaeden Kent, a shortstop who is hitting .302/.359/.433 with six home runs and 43 RBIs at High-A this season. Alongside Kent is Henry Lalane, a High-A pitcher who has a 4-1 record with a 2.77 ERA and 98 strikeouts. The Giants have had a severely underwhelming season, but they now add two talented young players from this deal as well as the two prospects they received in the Robbie Ray trade earlier today.
