Will Civ 7 have a 4th Age or a Future Age?

One of the most major changes coming with Civ 7 is the introduction of Ages, which split games up into three distinct pieces, all with set beginnings and ends that all players are on sync for. The Modern Age is the final of the three confirmed Ages so far, which takes players through the Industrial Revolution and ends in, roughly, the 1950’s. That timeline leaves a lot of modern history still to explore and dive into, leading players to already begin speculating about a potential 4th Age being added to Civ 7 down the line. So, will Civ 7 have a Future Age? Let’s take a look at what we know so far.

Will Civ 7 have a 4th Age in the future?

As of the time of this article’s release, developers have not spoken about any additional Ages being added to Civ 7. So, for now, we cannot say with any certainty that there will be a Future or 4th Age in Civ 7.

In an early blog post about Ages, Devs did say that they are, “excited for what’s to come in Civilization VII, and what the future looks like for the game over the long term.”

We’re not trying to read into that too much. However, this game is likely to have a very long life cycle, and a fourth Age could make for a perfect DLC release after a year or so of more minor releases. But for now, this is pure speculation. In the event that one is announced or confirmed, we will be sure to provide an update.

What we do know, as you can see in the developer roadmap just above, is that there are plenty of plans for updates already coming for 2025 with, “More to come” in Q4 of 2025 and beyond. If we were to be hopeful for a 4th Age, this could be the time where it could be added.

But, in the meantime, players will still have plenty of exciting updates to look forward too, with new Leaders, Civs, and Wonders all coming in the months just after release. Some of this will be free for all players, while other aspects of it will come via paid DLC content.
