The Wild Rift Soul Fighter event was hyped up for quite a while. Marketed to bring a brand new game mode alongside skins, alongside coming along one of the biggest patches of the year, Riot set expectations high.

But unfortunately, many members of the community have been disappointed by the event. One gamer commented “Soul fight event is soulless. The story is a mess. Yasuo’s story is literally the same as base Yasuo.”
They continue their criticism. “The mini game is beyond lame. The only good event recently was card trick chaos. They can do so much, yet they don’t.”
People on the post seem to agree — adding onto the criticism of the event.
“I absolutely hate this event pressing the sh**ty buttons over and over for 2 minutes how un interesting,” another gamer commented.
“Is it even possible to get hit? I havent been hit playing at max difficulty since it began?” a second Wild Rift player added.
Of course, there are a number of players who actually disagree with the majority.
“Hate me if you want, but honestly, I really like the event lmao. I enjoy that they add little gimmicks (reverse symbol, hidden symbol…) to the rather plain mini-game,” an event enjoyer commented.
The amount of disappointment for the event likely correlates with the lackluster patch as well. Wild Rift’s recent big patch released with a bunch of bugs. Rune descriptions were incorrect, patch notes were flat out wrong, and in game bugs plagued the game.
Hopefully the criticism for the event alongside patch gets Riot’s attention — thereby increasing the quality control for future events.
