Pokémon TCG Pocket has some exciting changes coming in 2025 on the heels of Pokémon Day announcements, one of which is the coming of Ranked battles. These will allow players to compete in this game like never before and may even make way for Pokémon TCG Pocket esports. Here’s everything we know so far.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Ranked will be coming at the end of March, according to the Pokémon Day announcement. This will allow players to climb, or tumble down, the ranks of Pokémon TCG Pocket battlers and put their decks to the true test. And, from the looks of it, this will be a permanent game mode in TCG Pocket. However, this isn’t the only major news coming to the Pokémon card-collecting game.

Pokémon TCG Pocket is adding a whole new expansion to the game, Triumphant Light, which goes live on February 28, 2025. This features Arceus prominently, but also has lots of other classics in the reveal trailer. You can see more about this expansion in the Pokémon Day reveal trailer, seen below.
One of the biggest and most gamebreaking additions to Pokémon TCG Pocket are the new Mega Evolution EX cards. These new cards, according to early footage, will allow your opponent to draw “Prize Cards” after defeating them, along with presumably being worth two points as other EX cards are. So far, all we have seen are Mega Lucario EX and Mega Gardevoir EX, however, there may be more cards like this on the way in the future.
Either way, these cards look to be incredibly tanky while still packing an incredible punch. However, we’ll have to wait until they go live on February 28, 2025 before we know exactly how they function.
