New Map WATCH and More Teased within VALORANT’S Year One Anthem

On Monday, June 21, VALORANT released their Year One Anthem. The almost 4 minute cinematic holds a lot to unpack. There are teasers pointing towards a possible new map named WATCH and new agent for Episode 3. Read on to find out more.

Possible New Map

VALORANT’S Year One Anthem cinematic has a lot to cover including a teaser of a possible new map. As the cinematic begins, “Watch” appears in large red letters over what seems to be a cliffside research center. In the middle of the terrain there seems to be a blue reactor-type energy hub. As @cynprel pointed out on their Twitter, the image of a nuclear wasteland town correlates with the teaser in the battlepass. The “Testing Ground” player card in Episode 3 Act 1 battlepass looks very similar to the start of the cinematic. This could very well mean that we should expect the new VALORANT map to be based on a ruined city that was destroyed by a nuclear power plant.

A nuclear wasteland map design contrasts the tropical map that was released last, Breeze. Developers are keeping players on their toes by adding a variety of different maps to the game. VALORANT developers usually release one new map in each episode, so it would make sense that a new map is already in the works to be released in the next coming months.

Possible New Agent?

A teaser for a possible agent seems way too soon considering that KAY/O was just finally confirmed.

But it looks like VALORANT developers are too eager to start throwing teasers at players hungry for what’s next. The VALORANT Year One Anthem also hints at a possible new agent. At the end of the cinematic, there are flashes of a shadowy figure with green and gold colors. The character wears a suit vest and tie. He has slicked-back hair and glasses. He also has what seems to be tribal markings down his neck and arms. Could this man be the next agent VALORANT is working on after the nearing release of KAY/O?

Riot Games has not confirmed any of these speculations yet. Even though that is the case, Riot Games is  throws teasers into everything VALORANT related. It would not be surprising to see another new agent as well as a new map in the next coming months.
