Publish Date: March 26, 2020

Riot Games continue their official Valorant Agent Reveals with Sage. Her playstyle is to create safety for herself and her team wherever she goes. She is “able to revive fallen friends and stave off forceful assaults, she provides a calm center to a hellish battlefield.”

Abilities

  • Slow Orb- Cast out a radianite orb that breaks into a slowing field upon impact with the ground. All caught in the field are slowed, grounded, and make noise when moving.
  • Barrier Orb- Conjure a large solid wall. Right-click to rotate the wall before casting.
  • Healing Orb- Heal an ally or yourself to full health over a few seconds.
  • Resurrection- Target a friendly corpse. After a short delay, revive them with full health.

Analysis

Sage will definitely be a support type agent. Her ult will act similarly to Mercy’s from Overwatch. This will create quite the advantage for her team and thus, it would be surprising not to see her in every game. The biggest question will be when and who she will use her ult on? Should she revive someone for numbers sake, wait until she is alone or revive someone else who also has an important ability? Deciding all of this will likely make her ultimate one of the most impactful ones in the game.

Her other orbs will all have their uses in certain maps and situations. Likely, her Slow Orb will provide the most utility. Being able to slow, ground and have other agents make noise will give it a wide variety of uses. Barrier will be good for walling off a point in order to defend it better or even to get the rest of the team on the point. Lastly, Healing Orb’s usefulness will depend on the rest of the team and its cost.

Overall Sage looks to be a very interesting Agent. She will play the role of ultra-utility while also making extremely impactful plays. Look for her to be in most games because of this.
