Nerd Street Gamers and T1 to Host VALORANT’s First NA Ignition Series Tournament

Many people have been waiting to hear about the first “Ignition Series” North American tournament and now the wait is over. Nerd Street Gamers, T1 Entertainment & Sports and Riot Games have announced the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers VALORANT Showdown which will see 16 teams fight for a $50k prize pool. This is the largest prize pool for an NA VALORANT tournament to date.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Nerd Street Gamers to bring Riot’s first VALORANT Ignition Series event to North America,” Joe Marsh, CEO of T1

Two play-in qualifier events will take place on June 20 and June 21 where competing teams have the opportunity to secure one of four open spots in the 16-team T1 x Nerd Street Gamers VALORANT Showdown.  Winners of the play-in qualifiers will face off against top VALORANT players, streamers, and influencers for a piece of the $50k prize pool.  The qualifiers are open to all gamers and those interested in competing can register at

“From big-time partners to an impressive prize pool and the chance for amateurs to compete alongside household names, T1 and Nerd Street Gamers are helping us kick off North American VALORANT esports in a big way,” said Matt Archambault, head of NA esports partnerships and business development at Riot Games.

This will be the first of a multitude of tournaments that are happening in the VALORANT pro scene. What is different about the Ignition Series is that all these events are officially in tandem with Riot Games. The goal of all of this is to find the new stars of the VALORANT scene and allow the esport to grow naturally. This truly means that anyone can make it if they can play at a top-level and make it into qualifiers while performing well. Some early tournaments have already seen plenty of no ones becoming someones almost overnight. The G2 VALORANT Invitational will be the same weekend and has already announced the groups, teams and players who are participating.
