100 Thieves Topples TSM to Take VALORANT First Strike Title

Publish Date: December 8, 2020

North America has crowned a new top team in the region. After an action packed final match, 100 Thieves bested Team Solo Mid in the VALORANT: First Strike tournament. 100 Thieves will have the honor of winning the first ever Riot-hosted VALORANT tournament in North America.

100 Thieves shocked the VALORANT scene with their dominant win this past Sunday. Heading into the main event, fans and analysts alike figured Team SoloMid and Sentinels to be front-runners for the first-place finish. While a few brave souls had believed in 100 Thieves, they remained a long shot to win it all. After all, they came into First Strike with a relatively new roster. The First Strike qualifying tournaments would be their first few officials with the brand new squad.

Even early in the Nerd Street Gamers Qualifying Tournament, 100 Thieves met TSM and lost in an unimpressive 2-0 fashion. However two weeks later, 100 Thieves would get the better of the impressive TSM roster and find themselves ready for the First Strike main event thanks to a second place finish in the second NSG Qualifier.

In the official First Strike bracket, 100 Thieves cruised past FaZe Clan, and won narrowly against a heavily favored Sentinels team. The team seemed to click at just the right moment. 100 Thieves would get the better of TSM just one last time, as they took the championship match in an electric 3-1 match. With their win over TSM, it appears as though 100 Thieves will head into 2021 as North America’s top team.
