There’s something seriously strange and emotional about co-op games, well, that and just multiplayer games as a whole, be it
Lego Party, Fortnite, if you want to count that, honestly, there’s plenty of examples out there. So, one minute everything feels peaceful and manageable, and the next someone in your group does something so unhinged that your eye twitches in real life. And yeah, the urge to hit exit to menu is real. Well, it’s either that or yell, right?
But at the end of the day, it’s a video game, and you’re playing with people you actually enjoy… even if they occasionally test your patience at a deep spiritual level. So this is really about how to not rage-quit, even when your friend has absolutely destroyed the entire plan, or well, gets annoying (cause that needs to count too)
Yeah, yeah, it’s generic advice, sure, there’s no denying that here. Basically, there’s someone in every group who builds like they’re following instructions from an alternate dimension. A doorway ends up two feet above the floor, walls snap in directions no architect could justify, and the entire base starts looking like a toddler tried to design a treehouse. Well, that’s just an example of one of these build games here.
And yeah, it can be irritating when you care about the layout, but this is the moment to pause. Like, okay, is this worth throwing your headset? Or is it just another hilarious story you’ll tease them about later? That tiny moment of patience goes a long way. But you have to keep in mind that this is just a game, it’s just a game where you’re trying to bond with friends, and all of you are supposed to have fun here.
Well, it’s all going to depend on what the game actually is, because walking away can be a bad idea (again, it depends on the game). But if you can, try to take this as a moment to get up, stretch, breathe, and maybe refill your drink. Sure, rage-quitting will feel tempting, but taking a second to reset makes everything easier. And seriously, here, even on the best ARK servers, disaster is kind of expected. The chaos becomes part of the story.
You shouldn’t have to tell this to an adult, maybe a kid at most, but you’d be surprised how people will tie their worth into winning and losing in general (especially video games). But generally speaking, little moments aren’t sabotage. They’re just… friend logic. They meant well if they do something that messes you up or the team in one of those co-op games.
They got excited. They thought they could outrun something that’s very much designed to kill them. So, instead of rage-quitting, this is the moment to accept that creatures will die, tames will vanish, and no one actually means harm. As you can see for yourself, sometimes the best thing you can do is laugh through the frustration.
