Former Buccaneers receiver Tyler Johnson has been waived for the second time in three months. The Texans, who claimed Johnson off of waivers just one day after the Bucs let him go, have also released Johnson.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Johnson was a fifth-round pick out of the University of Minnesota in 2020. He was lucky enough to be drafted to the Buccaneers, who won the Super Bowl, giving him a championship in his first NFL season. He only had one target in that game.
In his two-plus years of NFL service, Johnson has 529 yards and two touchdowns on 48 total receptions. He was targeted much more heavily in 2021, earning 55 targets from Tom Brady in 17 games, but just three starts.
