The WNBA secured a new media rights deal valued at about $2.2 billion (per ESPN) over 11 years with Disney, NBCUniversal and Amazon Prime Video.
The league released a press statement on Wednesday, July 24 detailing the terms of this deal:
- Disney, Prime Video and NBCU to distribute more than 125 WNBA games annually beginning with 2026 season through 2036 season
- WNBA Finals to rotate between Disney, Prime Video and NBCU
- Prime Video expands distribution rights for WNBA League Pass globally
Disney will be able to distribute games on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and stream them on ESPN’s forthcoming direct-to-consumer service. NBCU will distribute games on NBC, USA Network and/or Peacock. And Amazon will distribute games globally on Prime Video.
The WNBA is also expected to add additional media partners for the 2026 season.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said this of the deal:
“Partnering with Disney, Amazon and NBCU marks a monumental chapter in WNBA history and clearly demonstrates the significant rise in value and the historic level of interest in women’s basketball. These agreements allow the league to continue to build a long-term and sustainable growth model for the future of women’s basketball and sports which will benefit WNBA players, teams and fans.”
An additional clause also allows the partners to reexamine the deal after three years to readjust if needed.
