Why all 3 Cincinnati Sports Teams are on their Way Up

Publish Date: July 9, 2021

Cincinnati sports teams have been struggling for a few years now. After a nice boon almost ten years ago, all three teams, one that recently joined the upper ranks, have been struggling. Now it looks as though the bad times are starting to become things of the past. All three teams have made recent moves that show that they are ready to compete and hopefully bring a title to a city that has not seen one in over 30 years. Here is a look at why all 3 Cincinnati teams are on their way up.

Cincinnati Reds

No one will argue that 2020 was a strange year. With COVID-19 plaguing the world, sports took a major hit. Baseball was cut to 60 games and a playoffs. While the Reds made the playoffs, they could have done so much more as they had set themselves up to win that year. Sadly they were ousted in typical Cincinnati fashion. Now they are back on the hunt in 2021.

They have two MVP candidates in Nick Castellanos and Jesse Winker along with two ROTY candidates in Jonathan India and Tyler Stephenson. This lineup is potent and they have charged their way from fourth to second in only a few weeks. While they are currently still a bit back from first place, the Reds have made it clear that they are ready to make moves to ensure they can make a playoff run. This team is full of young talent and if they can convince Castellanos to stay, the Reds will be a force for years to come.

FC Cincinnati

After an abysmal start to their 2021 campaign, FC Cincinnati have finally started to figure things out. They are 3-1-1 in their last five games and are about to play three of their next five games at home. Taking all of this into consideration, FC Cincinnati are looking like they could make a run. If they can go 3-1-1 again then they could be vying for a playoff spot in the MLS.

If one was a betting man they should consider looking a team like FC Cincinnati who are clearly on their way up. While sports betting is still not legal in Ohio, there are a few surrounding states that are and it is easy for residents to cross the border to make a few bets. Of the few surrounding states, West Virginia has the smallest population but even then, the Mountain State has generated a total revenue of almost $70 million since late 2018. Ohio has a much bigger population so it can be expected that the State can surpass that revenue in no time.

Cincinnati Bengals

Of every team on this list, the Bengals have arguably to most promise because of one man, Joe Burrow. The rest of the team is certainly getting better as well but many will argue that Joe Burrow is already one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and he has only played in about half a season of games. With the additions around him on the line and at wide receiver in Ja’Marr Chase, the Bengals’ offense looks poised to be one of the best in the league.

It is crazy to say this about a team that has been last and fifth last the past two seasons, but the Bengals are certainly on their way up. Even a .500 season would prove that their system is working but many fans anticipate more. Because of this the Bengals are certainly a Cincinnati team to keep an eye out for moving forward.
