- Grayson Allen, Duke
Grayson Allen did not play too terribly much on the stacked 2015 Duke National Championship team. He only played nine minutes per game but his per 40 minutes’ averages were not too shabby. All he did as a sophomore was prove that he is the player that those per 40 statistics indicate. Allen’s 2015-16 numbers in 36 minutes are actually better than his per 40 averages from the previous year.
Allen is a basketball player in every sense of the word. He is a ridiculous athlete with explosive capabilities. He also has remarkable shooting percentages. Allen shoots 41.7% from long range as well as 46% from the field and above 80% from the charity stripe. Not only do defenders have to respect his ability to play at the rim and his athleticism, but they also cannot give him too much space to knock down a shot. Allen also provides more than average defensive effort, several rebounds per game and a competitive fire that is hard to be matched. Were it not for the influx of talent in the upcoming freshman class at Duke, Allen would have eye-popping numbers as a Junior. Still, he is the leading player in what could be another National Title Run for the Blue Devils.
