The Wait is Over
After a long wait, running back Ezekiel Elliot is back and ready to start his third year in the NFL. He has been showing up to camp and getting reps in every day. From the looks of it, Elliot seems excited to be back and is ready to play.
Past History
Elliot had been through a lot last season, for he was under investigation due to domestic violence with his former girlfriend in Ohio. This case has been going on for the past two years. After the draft, the girl confessed that the young NFL superstar had been beating on her. While they were investigating, the NFL had announced a six-game suspension.
Instead of fighting the case for a long period of time, Elliot served his six-game suspension for the 2017 season after playing for the first eight games. He still finished a total of 983 yards for his second season, which was still good but not better than his rookie year. If he didn’t have to serve the six-game suspension, Elliot would’ve had over a thousand yards for his second season. During his first year in the NFL, Elliot had 1,631 total rushing yards. He also won first-team All-Pro and was named a Pro Bowler.
Zeke isn’t the only athlete that had to deal with this type of situation. A lot of other players had dealt with the same problem, facing cases that lasted for over a period of time, and facing suspensions from games. Reuben Foster, for example, was also suspected for domestic violence back in February after his ex claimed that he’d hit her. The verdict came out not guilty, and it turned out that the woman lied to ruin his career after Foster broke up with her.
Now that the storm is over and the case is out of the way, Elliot seems more focused this year and wants to get back on top.
