New York Liberty star, Sabrina Ionescu, married Las Vegas Raiders center Hroniss Grasu. The two tied the knot on Sunday, March 10, in Laguna Niguel, California. Ionescu originates from Walnut Creek, California and Grasu from Los Angeles, California.
Ionescu posted to her Instagram stories on Tuesday and made her official post on Wednesday showing off the wedding flics.
The pair both played for Oregon with Grasu graduating in 2014 and Ionescu in 2020. The couple then announced they were dating in August 2021 and later got engaged in January 2023. It was a surprise proposal during what Ionescu originally thought was a GQ photoshoot.
The wedding had its own star-studded guest list. Vanessa and Natalia Bryant were in attendance along with Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, Breanna Stewart, Satou Sabally and the Oregon Ducks mascot.
Kobe Bryant, Vanessa Bryant’s late husband, was a mentor to Ionescu and she spoke at his memorial service. Ionescu consistently honors Kobe and Gigi and Vanessa Bryant continues to support Ionescu at her games.
Dallas Wings forward, Sabally captioned her post, “To an everlasting bond of love 💗 what an amazing wedding of two very special people, a weekend full of smiles and happy tears” with a happy tears emoji. Ionescu and Sabally played together at Oregon and were drafted #1 and #2 respectively in the WNBA 2020 Draft.
The wedding continues to cap off a memorable year for Ionescu. She earned All-WNBA Second Team, won the WNBA 3-Point Contest while setting the WNBA and NBA records for most points, launched her Sabrina 1 shoes with Nike in September and made history in a cross NBA-WNBA 3-Point Challenge with Steph Curry.
Ionescu looks to turn her focus back to the WNBA now with training camp starting April 28.
