The Nationals have acquired southpaw Roenis Elias from the Mariners. The lefty will accompany newly acquired Daniel Hudson in a bullpen that needed an upgrade.
Roenis Elias is indeed headed to the Nationals, sources confirm to ESPN. That's two moves already for Mike Rizzo to improve a bullpen that needed it.

Elias has a 4.40 ERA through 47 innings pitched this season. It was not a great stat, but Elias is still a great upgrade to the previously very weak bullpen. Also the fact that he’s a lefty is big reason for this trade. Sean Doolittle and Tony Sipp are the only lefties in the Nationals bullpen with an ERA below 5.00.
According to The Athletic, the Mariners will receive pitchers Elvis Alvarado and Taylor Guilbeau.
Elvis Alvarado is in his second rookie ball season, and he currently has a career ERA of 6.28. He is 20 years old.
Taylor Guilbeau is a 26-year-old who played in both Double-A and Triple-A this season. He is currently in Double-A with a 2.31 ERA and a 1.057 WHIP. Guilbeau started his career as a starter but is currently being used as a reliever. He and Alvarado will report to the Mariners’ farm system.
