Ranking the New 2021 WNBA Jerseys

Publish Date: April 20, 2021

Recently, Nike and the WNBA decided to collaborate on a slew of new uniform designs for the upcoming 25th season of the WNBA. Here’s a look at the best-looking jerseys that were released.

6. New York Liberty

The teal color in professional hoops doesn’t come out very often, so Liberty’s emphasis on the color in their new jerseys is nice. The team decided to highlight the city of New York, with the Statue of Liberty’s replacing the “I.” There’s also a torch in the bottom corner of the shorts. From Nike, these jerseys are “inspired by the striking colors of the city’s iconic monument and all that it represents, the uniform features “Equality” across the chest, framed by copper and black taping.”

5. Atlanta Dream

Atlanta decided to focus on the importance of their rich and vibrant city within their jerseys. In their bold red Explorer Edition(jersey on the left), Nike says the uniforms “capture the passion, courage, and heart of the Georgians who championed the Civil Rights Movement.” The Dream’s Rebel Edition(jersey on the right) has subtle hints of silver in the uniform—such as the silver star and logo detailing—which are symbolic of the platinum and gold records produced in the city.

4. Seattle Storm

For Seattle, the team takes on a mix of old and modern with their new Explorer Edition. The Storm’s green and yellow colorway gives off a really sharp look, while also giving some throwback vibes. The Rebel edition is black uniform with a sash across the upper chest. According to Nike, these “uniform centers are a band-like cut across the chest and back that symbolizes female empowerment along with bold, graphic typography in heavily worn relief.”

3. Indiana Fever

Indiana’s Explorer Editions uniforms(jersey on the right) are a crisp look with a nice use of gold. The uniform features 19 stars on the siding that is an “allusion to the state flag and Indiana’s place as the 19th member of the Union,” according to Nike. For their Rebel editioned jerseys(jersey on the right) the team decided to take on a Stranger Things theme, and it’s an absolute hit. The Fever really took on creative aspirations in creating this look. The uniforms are unique in the sense that it utilizes pop culture and goes beyond just the basketball environment. The Stranger Things theme will most definitely be a best-seller throughout next season.

2. Los Angeles Sparks

The Los Angeles Sparks Nike Explorer Edition(jersey on the left) perfectly captures the Los Angeles vibes of warm weather and palm trees. The team’s black Rebel edition jersey(jersey on the right) reflects the nighttime of LA: “the city of stars.” With a bright yellow outline and stars running down the sides of the jersey, it really emphasizes the bright lights of the beautiful city.

1. Chicago Sky

The Sky utilized its bright blue, yellow and black colors to create a couple of masterpieces. The black Chicago Sky Nike Explorer Edition(jersey on the left) is a nice and simple jersey with faded pinstripes to add a nice touch. “The 10×10 pinstripe grid represents Chicago’s city blocks and the 5-on-5 players on the court,” the Sky said in a statement. The team’s Nike Rebel Edition(jersey on the right) is sky blue with “shattered lines” in lighter blue. The uniforms are a really distinctive and special look, and cool enough to make it Number One on the list.
