The Nashville Predators received terrible news regarding forwards Wayne Simmonds and Brian Boyle. Both players are being listed as “week-to-week” according to Nashville Predators insider Adam Vingan.
Simmonds suffered a lower-body injury during Saturday game against the Dallas Stars. He took a slap shot to the knee by teammate Roman Josi during the second period. He struggled to get off the ice and missed the rest of the game.
Boyle missed Saturday’s 2-1 overtime victory after undergoing appendix surgery. Rocco Grimaldi will fill in Simmonds spot in the lineup for tonight’s game. On Saturday Grimaldi scored his first career playoff goal. Miikka Salomaki will play in Boyle’s spot in the fourth-line. Salomaki had not played since January 4.

Top players being listed “week to week” is something no playoff team would want. A week can determine a whole series in the NHL playoffs. The Predators acquired both players in this year’s trade deadline. The players were key pieces for a deep playoff run. It is unfortunate that these injuries happened during the playoffs. The best of seven series is currently tied 1-1.
Game 3 will be at American Airlines Center (Dallas, TX) tonight (9:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, TVAS, FS-SW, FS-TN).
