Paul Casey
Casey, a former Arizona State Sun Devil much like Rahm, seems
poised to snag the Travelers Championship after a first place finish slipped through his grasp in a playoff with Bubba Watson last year. Casey has spent the last few years trying to reignite his woeful golf game. While one event typically won’t turn a career around, a T-10th finish at the PGA Championship is something he needed to get some confidence in his game back, especially when he posts an 86.11% GIR. Casey’s issue currently is his putting. In the first two rounds, he averages 29.44 and 29.38 putts in the first and second round, respectively. Then, if he makes it to the weekend, it seems to get even worse as his average gets above 30 putts per round for both rounds three and four.
Casey’s key to a solid finish this week is to either putt uncharacteristically or stick it close so he doesn’t have to worry about putting too much, which he certainly is capable of doing.
