The Philadelphia Eagles will be back at home this weekend to face NFC East Rival the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles will be looking to win their first game against the Dallas Cowboys since December 27th, 2020. This article will preview this critical Week six game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys have been on a roll lately since losing their first game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have won four games in a row including games against the Bengals and Rams who were both in the Super Bowl last year. However, they have done this without their franchise quarterback Dak Prescott who has been out with a hand injury since Week 1. Cooper Rush has led the charge and he has been good while doing so. He does not put up the most spectacular numbers but he does what he needs to do to win, which is taking care of the football. He has over 800 yards passing, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Cooper Rush does have help around him. He has Ezekiel Elliot at running back who is having a decent season thus far. He has over 300 yards rushing and one touchdown, which is a bit surprising. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has been one of the Cowboys’ best players on offense. He has racked up 341 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Lastly on defense, the Cowboys have Trevon Diggs who is one of the best cornerbacks in the league. He has 15 tackles and two interceptions.
Firstly, the Eagles need to prepare for both quarterbacks. Prescott has been upgraded to questionable so there is still a chance he could take the field on Sunday night. The Eagles also need to harass whatever quarterback is in on Sunday night. They have already done better in the sack department than last year. This is the time to have another game as they did against the Commanders a couple of weeks ago where they racked up nine sacks. Philadelphia also needs to win in the turnover department. Their secondary has already made noise this season. The duo of James Bradberry and Darius Slay has been terrific this season.
As for the offensive side of the ball, the Philadelphia Eagles just need to do what they have been doing all season. Jalen Hurts is much improved from a year ago. He is a threat passing and running the ball now. Hurts is having an MVP Caliber season and has led the Eagles to an undefeated season thus far. The Eagles also have an edge with the rushing attack. The offensive line has been great at opening holes for Miles Sanders and the rest of the Eagles’ running backs. Lastly, the receiving corp has been a key part of the Eagles’ offense all season. DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown have been great all year. They have both really lived up to the expectations as one of the receiving duos in the league.
This game is one of the biggest games of the season for both teams. Whoever wins this game will have an edge in the NFL East divisional race. The Eagles have struggled against the Cowboys in recent years, but this season is different. Philadelphia now has all the tools to beat the Cowboys and they will need to show that Sunday night
This concludes this preview of the Philadelphia Eagles Week six game against the Dallas Cowboys.
