The Eagles (4-0) are still undefeated after beating the Jaguars by a score of 29-21 this past Sunday. This was a game where the Eagles had to claw their way back from a 14-point deficit early in the game. This article will give a full recap of the Philadelphia Eagles Week 4 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The aspect of this game that gave the Eagles the ability to come back from a 14-point deficit was turnovers by the Jacksonville offense. This game was played in a rainstorm with heavy winds. This made the ball slippery throughout and the winds did play a factor for both quarterbacks throughout the game. However, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence experienced the most difficulties in this weather. Lawrence fumbled the ball four times in this game and the Eagles recovered the ball all four times. Some of these fumbles were due to lack of awareness by Lawrence and others just had to do with the ball being slippery. However, the Eagles’ defense deserves a lot of credit as their pass rushing was on point and made Lawrence uncomfortable throughout the game.
The Eagles did force an interception in this game. Lawrence tried getting the ball to Jamal Agnew, but James Bradberry read the play perfectly and picked Lawrence off. Lawrence made the critical mistake of staring down the receiver, which Bradberry took full advantage of. Bradberry has turned out be a huge pick-up for the Eagles during the offseason.
Hurts had a decent game, but he was also hindered by the weather. He had 204 passing yards and an interception. The interception was a pick-six that gave Jacksonville an early 7-0 lead. The pass was tipped and fell into the hands of former Syracuse safety Andre Cisco. He returned the ball 59 yards to the end zone. Hurts also did not get as many rushing yards as usual. He only had 39 yards on the ground and one touchdown. Hurts did show that he can lead the Eagles to victory in any situation. He had to deal with the weather and a good Jacksonville defense that had only given up 10 points in their prior two games.
The player of the game on offense was Miles Sanders. He carried the Eagles on the ground. He had 134 yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles might have not won the game if it wasn’t for him. Kenneth Gainwell also got in on the action with 19 yards and a touchdown.
Trey Sermon also got some carries with Boston Scott being out with injury. He also had two carries for 19 yards. Furthermore, it would be interesting to see Sermon incorporated more into the offense as he could have a lot of success in Philly. The Eagles overall totaled 210 rushing yards. It was smart to focus on running the ball more with the weather being such a factor in this game
This concludes this Philadelphia Eagles Week 4 game recap.
