Philadelphia Eagles Week 4 Preview

Publish Date: September 30, 2022

The Eagles are 3-0 with wins against the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and the Washington Commanders. Philadelphia will now face the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1) on Sunday.  The Eagles are a 6.5-point favorite as of this writing. This article will give a full recap of the Philadelphia Eagles Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jaguars Are No Joke

The Jaguars were a mess in 2021 with the Urban Meyer experiment completely failing. However, now in 2022 under Doug Pederson, the Jags are as hot as any team in the NFL. In the last two weeks, the Jags did not just win but throttled both the Colts and the Chargers. This is because Trevor Lawrence is looking like a franchise quarterback. Thus far he has thrown for 772 passing yards and six touchdowns. He does have one lone interception. These are nothing like the numbers we saw last year at this time. He is maturing and making better decisions with the ball. His favorite receiver is Christian Kirk who has 267 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Furthermore, their defense has only given up 10 points in two weeks. Devin Lloyd leads the Jaguars defense with 24 tackles and linebacker Josh Allen leads the team in sacks with two. Philadelphia needs to be careful this week. The Jaguars are capable of handing the Eagles their first loss.

The Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are also a hot team. They are undefeated and just dominated the Commanders, which is a team that Jacksonville lost to in week one. The Eagles also have a tough two-game stretch after this with games at Arizona and a home game against the Cowboys. This Jacksonville game has all the makings of a letdown. So, what do the Eagles need to do to win? They need to play like they have been playing for three weeks now. Jalen Hurts is looking like an MVP-caliber player. He is third in the league in passing yards with 916 yards. Furthermore, Hurts also has four touchdowns and one interception. He can also beat teams on the ground with his speed.

Another player that has been hot the past two games is Devonta Smith. He has led the Eagles receivers in yardage the past two weeks. He is coming off a game where he accumulated 169 passing yards and a touchdown. Not to mention, A.J. Brown is another player who has been just as good the past few weeks. Let’s also not forget Dallas Goedert who has become one of the best tight ends in the league. He has 168 yards and one touchdown on the season.

The Eagles’ defense has some momentum going as they are coming off a game with a total of nine sacks, which is insane. Linebacker T.J. Edwards has become one of the top linebackers in the league. He has led the Eagles in tackles the last two weeks. He has 21 tackles and one sack thus far. Furthermore, the Eagles’ secondary is great with the combination of James Bradberry and Darius Slay who have both made noise in 2022. They will need to find a way to shut down Christian Kirk and the Jags receivers. More importantly, they will need to shut down Trevor Lawrence. If the Eagles harass Lawrence like they did Wentz last week, then the odds of the Eagles winning is favorable.

This concludes this Philadelphia Eagles Weed 4 preview.
