Philadelphia Eagles Week 16 Game Preview

Publish Date: December 22, 2022

The Eagles (13-1) will face their archrival the Dallas Cowboys (10-4) this coming Saturday afternoon. This article will preview the Philadelphia Eagles Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles might get a key player back against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday. Dallas Goedert is officially off the IR ahead of the game on Saturday. Goedert was having an amazing season before he suffered the injury. He has racked up 544 yards and three touchdowns on the season thus far. He also averages 12.7 yards a reception. If Goedert does get the go-ahead to play, expect him to make an impact right away for this Eagles Offense.

In other injury news for the Eagles, Jalen Hurts is ruled out of this weekend’s game. This was after Hurts missed a couple of practices in a row. Nick Sirianni said on Thursday that “Jalen did everything he possibly could to get his body ready to go”. Hurts suffered a shoulder sprain against the Bears last week.

So what should the game plan be with Gardner Minshew? The whole playbook should be open. Minshew looked good during the preseason. With the Weapons the Eagles have at wide receiver, Minshew could really do some damage slinging the ball.  However, the Eagles need to run the ball this time around. Miles Sanders did not get nearly the number of touches he should have gotten against the Bears last week. He has been great all year and recently reached 1,000 yards rushing on the season.

The Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are still having a great season even with Dak Prescott not playing his best football. He has thrown for just over 2,000 yards this season and has 17 passing touchdowns. However, interceptions have been a problem for Prescott. He has 11 on the year, which is one more than his 10 interceptions last year. Prescott does have weapons on offense. CeeDee Lamb is one of the best receivers in the league. He has over 1,000 receiving yards and six touchdowns. The Cowboys do have a potent rushing attack with Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliot. Elliott has 774 rushing yards on the year and 10 touchdowns. Pollard is outrushing Elliot as he has 969 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

The Cowboys, however, are coming off a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, which no one saw coming. Dallas was up by two touchdowns at halftime. They also only gave up one touchdown in the first half. However, after halftime, Dallas gave up 27 points in the second half. This comeback ultimately led to overtime where the Jaguars would edge the Cowboys.  This loss could have the Cowboys playing mad on Saturday, which could be dangerous for the Eagles.

Prediction

It is predicted that this game will be close throughout. However, the loss of Jalen will prove costly to the Eagles as they will drop this game against the Cowboys.

This concludes this Philadelphia Eagles Week 16 preview.
