Philadelphia Eagles Week 11 Game Recap

Publish Date: November 22, 2022

The Philadelphia Eagles made a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the Indianapolis Colts by score of 17-16. This article will recap the Philadelphia Eagles Week 11 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Philadelphia Struggles

This Eagles offense struggled for most of this game. Philadelphia made a lot of costly mistakes that put them behind the chains. For example, the Eagles had seven penalties for 55 yards.  In one possession, the Eagles had penalties on three consecutive plays. This was a momentum killer that forced Philadelphia to punt.

The Eagles also continued their fumbling woes as well. Jalen Hurts fumbled the ball once in this game because of a sack by Yannick Ngakoue. The other fumble was by AJ Brown. This one was a heartbreaker because the Eagles were driving late in the fourth quarter.

Eagles overcome adversity

However, good teams always overcome adversity which is exactly what they did in the fourth quarter. The Eagles would score their first touchdown in the fourth quarter with Quez Watkins catching a 22-yard touchdown pass by Jalen Hurts. Watkins made up for the fumble last week against the Commanders. He is an underrated receiver that has blazing speed.

After that touchdown, the Eagles would then struggle until late in the fourth quarter. The Eagles gave up a field goal which made the score 10-16. Jalen Hurts would then work his magic with four minutes left in the fourth quarter and led the Eagles on a 12-play scoring drive that would result in a seven-yard rushing touchdown for Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles’ Defense

The defense really kept the Eagles in this game. They held the Colts’ offense to 16 points and honestly it should have been more with all the opportunities the Colts got. In addition, the Eagles held Johnathan Taylor to below 100 yards rushing which is hard to do. He ran all over the Eagles in the first half, but Philadelphia did a nice job shutting him down in the second. The Eagles also did a nice job harassing Matt Ryan throughout. Philadelphia sacked him four times in this game.

The Eagles also managed to force two fumbles. One fumble really changed the momentum of this game. The Colts were driving into Eagles territory when Jonathan Taylor fumbled as he was trying to carry defenders for extra yardage. However, the Eagles did not capitalize on this as they would fumble on the very next possession.

The leading tackler for the Eagles was C.J. Gardner Johnson, which is not surprising.  He has been one of the best defensive players for the Eagles recently. He totaled eleven tackles for the game. Overall, this was not the Eagles’ best game. They really struggled on offense, but the defense managed to keep them in the game. Philly will need to clean a few things up before their next game against the Green Bay Packers.  This Concludes his Philadelphia Eagles Week 11 recap.
