On Tuesday the Packers placed one of one of those top receivers, Geronimo Allison, on Injured Reserve, per their twitter page.
Geronimo Allison is in his third year as a Packer and was starting to shine this year. He has recorded 20 catches for 303 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the season. One touchdown was clutch for the Packers comeback against the Chicago Bears in Week 1.
The third-year receiver injured his groin in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills and has played very few snaps since then. There is a possibility he will need surgery on his groin, but that is not certain yet.
Rookie Marquez Valdes-Scantling will need to step up in his place. Valdes-Scantling has looked quite superior in his rookie season. He has played six games and recorded 15 catches for 358 yards and two touchdowns.
After the Week 9 loss to the Patriots, the Packers released their safety, Jermaine Whitehead. His low production isn’t necessarily the reason of his release. He got in a scuffle during the game with Patriots offensive linemen David Andrews. It drew a penalty flag and after discussion, got him ejected from the game.
After his release, the Packers signed cornerback Will Redmond to their active roster in hopes of filling in their missing pieces in the secondary.
