Publish Date: April 23, 2019

Tonight the San Jose Sharks host the Vegas Golden Knights at SAP Center. The Sharks forced Game 7 after trailing the series 3-1. Tonight the winner faces the Colorado Avalanche in the second round of the Western Conference. Here is a preview of tonight’s Stanley Cup Playoffs matchup.

Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights had 58 shots in Game 6. Sharks goaltender Martin Jones had a career game making 58 saves (Sharks playoff record.). Vegas top forwards Mark Stone and Jonathan Marchessault need to get the dirty goals. Mark Stone had 10 points (six goals, four assists) through Game 4. Since Game 5 he had zero points. The first two lines need to step up if they want to get through the first round. According to NHL.com, the team that scores first won each of those game in the series. Also, all of the first goals occurred in the first 1:16 of the games. Vegas will depend on their All-Star goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury during Game 7. Throughout his career, he won three Game 7’s with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Tonight is his chance to win his first Game 7 as a Golden Knight.

San Jose Sharks

The San Jose Sharks surprised us this series. Trailing 3-1, the Sharks forced an exciting Game 7 matchup. Thanks to goaltender Martin Jones 58 saves in Game 6. The Sharks will be having the home-ice advantage at the SAP Center. All of their top players need to step up. A lot of pressure will be on both Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson. Karlsson is currently leading the playoffs with seven assists. Both defensemen need to step up and contribute both defense and offense zones. Vegas strong forecheck must be maintained. This could be one of the biggest playoff game in Sharks history. Enjoy it!
