It has been six months since wide receiver Dez Bryant tore his Achilles during practice. Now, the former All-Pro is back to running. Bryant posted a video of himself running routes on Instagram Monday afternoon. In the caption Bryant states, “First time running in a long time… Building confidence.” The video is shown below.

Dez Bryant was signed by the New Orleans Saints in November of the 2018 season. The wide receiver tore his Achilles only two days into being with his new team. Bryant’s recovery seems to be coming along nicely as he looks to be preparing for the upcoming season. Considering that Bryant has not played in an NFL game since the 2017 season, running routes could be a major milestone for the wideout.
Bryant’s Career
Dez Bryant was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He then spent eight seasons with the team creating an impressive résumé.
With the Cowboys, Bryant caught 531 passes for 7,459 yards. In addition, the wide receiver set a franchise record for receiving touchdowns with 73.
Bryant’s stats were enough to send him to three Pro-Bowls in the span of four seasons. He also earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2014.
After the 2017 season, Dez Bryant was released by the Cowboys. Later on, he was signed to the New Orleans Saints to a one-year deal.
Unfortunately, Bryant’s career has been plagued with injuries. In his rookie season, the wideout was sidelined for the remaining five games of the season due to a fractured fibula. Since then, Bryant has experienced injuries such as a foot sprain, broken index finger, hairline fractured knee and most recently a torn Achilles.
Now that Bryant is back to running, this can be the beginning of a comeback to playing in the NFL once again.
