NFL Week 6 predictions

Publish Date: October 11, 2018

Week 5 was full of upsets, shocking results and missed field goals. Week 6 is approaching meaning we are already a third of the way through the season. It’s time for some teams to get a move or things won’t end so well. Teams on bye in week 6: New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions.

Week 6 begins with a Thursday Night Rivalry

Eagles at Giants: The Eagles are 7-1 against the Giants since 2014, but Eli Manning has thrown for 300+ yards in three straight games against the Eagles. Both QB’s are struggling this season, but it’ll be a battle of who can extend plays and escape a d-line without turning it over or taking a sack. Phi 27 NYG 20

Sunday

Buccaneers at Falcons: Fitzmagic burned out quite fast, but Winston might be able to pick up the pieces since the Falcons have one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Only Blake Bortles has more turnovers than Winston since 2015. Yet the injury-prone Falcons have allowed 37 points or more in three straight games. Both teams need plenty of work on both sides. ATL 36 TPA 30

Steelers at Bengals: This huge rivalry might cause a bit of tension on the field Sunday. The Bengals always have a hard time against the Steelers, but the way they have been playing this season the might get stunned. Vontaze Burfict will be power to the defense. Big Ben has won five straight in Cincinnati. Though Andy Dalton will have a field day against the NFL’s fourth-worst defense. Cin 24 Pit 20

Chargers at Browns: It seems like the Browns aren’t half bad, CB Denzel Ward has stepped it up. QB Baker Mayfield throws dimes down the field and WR Jarvis Landry can make almost impossible catches. Phillip Rivers looked great against the Raiders last week, but can he overcome the Browns? I don’t think so, especially on Cleveland turf. Cle 24 LAC 20

Bills at Texans: Both teams stole a win with a field goal last week. A rookie QB versus a second year QB will be a good fight. As a result of both of the Bills’ wins, QBs have failed to perform. Watson is getting better and better as the season goes on. JJ Watt is tied for first in the league for sacks and DeAndre Hopkins is finding his groove this season. Hou 27 Buf 19

Bears at Dolphins: The Dolphins started 3-0 and now have lost two straight. It might of just been too good to be true. The Bears have the number one ranked defense right now because of star pass rusher Khalil Mack. Even though both of their offenses are in the bottom five, the Bears will probably reach Tannehill more than the Dolphins would like. Chi 24 Mia 17

Cardinals at Vikings: The Cardinals got their first win last week and Josh Rosen looked good. Kirk Cousins and the Vikings got a boost in confidence beating the Eagles last week. Unfortunately, Cousins still hasn’t gotten past turning the ball over. The Cardinals will be able to give the Vikings a run for their money this week. Min 24 Ari 19

Colts at Jets: Sam Darnold isn’t shaping up to be the best rookie QB, but he’s showing a glimpse of a good future. The Jets also have Crowell. Andrew Luck’s return isn’t all it’s cracked up to be either. The 1-4 Colts haven’t been able to step up the plate if need be. NYJ 19 Ind 13

Seahawks at Raiders (London game): Both teams have been struggling so far this season, yet both quarterbacks have plenty of potential. Seattle has shown they can keep up with the big dogs and they can also fall hard. The loss of Earl Thomas was a big blow. When Derek Carr gets in a rhythm it’s like we’re back in 2016, if Cooper, Bryant and Nelson all get open, this game will be a good fight to the end. Oak 23 Sea 20

Panthers at Redskins: Redskins fell down on the job against the Saints on Monday night. Other than the game against the Packers, they haven’t looked too hot. Maybe bringing in Alex Smith wasn’t the best idea, or maybe he just isn’t clicking with the team yet. Either way, we know that Panthers Kicker Graham Gano can hit from 63 yards and Cam Newton can come in clutch. Car 26 Was 17

Rams at Broncos: The Rams have been on fire. Both offense and defense are top-ranked week after week. Denver wants so badly to prove that their not wasting their money on Case Keenum, but it seems to be going more downhill than up. Although the Seahawks gave the Rams a run for their money last week, I don’t think they’re going to let another team under .500 do that again. LAR 28 Den 13

Jaguars at Cowboys: Blake Bortles seems to have an alter ego that shows up to certain games. It leaves a question if the Jags Super Bowl hopes are in the hands of the wrong quarterback sometimes. The Cowboys can’t seem to find a receiving threat to leave any defense in the dust. Jac 20 Dal 17

Ravens at Titans: Ravens had a misstep last week at the Browns and it might have just thrown them off of their game. Marcus Mariota can edge out Joe Flacco just slightly and take over this game even with the Ravens top-ranked defense coming full force. Ten 21 Bal 17

Sunday Night

Chiefs at Patriots: Undefeated Chiefs head into uncharted Tom Brady territory. The Patriots never start out perfect, but come October or November they’re on fire. Patrick Mahomes has been the talk of the NFL lately with his exceptional yet surprising talent but Brady and his defense are a lot to swallow in Foxboro. Good thing they can handle a mouth full. KC 30 NE 24

Monday Night

49ers at Packers: The Packers and 49ers are both coming off mind-blowing inner division losses. With both teams looking to bounce back, it’ll be a good fight. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will be too much for this scrambled 49ers’ defense. Especially if Cobb and Allison make their return. With Garappolo out for the season with a torn ACL, the 49ers will have a rough road ahead. GB 27 SF 17
