According to several media reports, Steve Alford is set to become the new head coach at Nevada.
Alford, who was fired midseason from UCLA earlier this year, has some familiarity with the Mountain West Conference. He went 155-52 in six seasons at New Mexico, leading them to three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Alford’s track record at UCLA wasn’t bad either, as he went 124-63 in six seasons. That also includes three Sweet 16 appearances. Alford will have some work to do in his first season in Reno, as they lose six of their top seven scorers from this year. Look for Nevada to add some potential graduate transfers who can contribute right away next season.
Former Wolfpack coach Eric Musselman was named head coach at Arkansas earlier this month.
