Today’s game is a huge one for both teams. Later today, the Raptors host the Warriors for Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
This game is significant for both teams as one team is on the verge of elimination, and another is on the verge of winning their first championship. The Finals could be over, or extended at least one more game. Game 5 is crucial and can go either way.
Raptors take a 3-1 lead over the Warriors
On Friday, the Raptors beat the Warriors 105-92. Kawhi Leonard led the Raptors with 36 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. After being the only Raptors player to score double figures in the first half, he continued to play well in the second. He and Serge Ibaka combined for 24 points in the third quarter. Leonard helped the Raptors secure their second straight road win.
For the Warriors, Klay Thompson returned after suffering a hamstring injury in Game 2. He scored 28 points as he shot 11-of-18 from the field. Kavon Looney also returned from a non-displaced first costal cartilage fracture. He scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds while coming off the bench. Despite the return of both players, the Warriors suffered their second straight home loss. So, the Raptors have a 3-1 lead over the Warriors.
The Raptors are officially one game away from winning the NBA Finals. As they return home for today’s game, they have a chance to close out the series. However, the Warriors may think otherwise. If a particular player returns, they have a shot at extending the series.
Kevin Durant practices with team
On Sunday, Kevin Durant practiced with the Warriors. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr discussed Durant’s decision.

“He’s going to practice with us today, and he’ll get some extra work in with some of our younger players,” Kerr said. “We’ll gauge it from there.”
Durant is listed as questionable, but details are scarce. If he plays, he could help the Warriors in Game 5 but with limited minutes. Or, he’ll miss Game 5 and possibly the rest of the series. Regardless, if he is able to play, he can help the Warriors win.
What to expect
Game 5 should be an exciting one. Both teams have something to prove in this game, and will likely compete to the end. The Raptors have a chance to make history on their home floor and will look to do so in this game.
