The Los Angeles Lakers have had a busy offseason. They’ve added pieces such as Avery Bradley, Danny Green, DeMarcus Cousins and Jared Dudley. They have also retained players such as Rajon Rondo and JaVale McGee. Their offseason may not be what they expected but has improved their roster.
With so many new additions, the Lakers have to make adjustments to their lineup. According to reports, the Lakers already have at least one adjustment they want to make. They want to place their star forward LeBron James in the starting point guard role.

Chris Haynes reported that league sources told Yahoo Sports of the lineup change. James will step into the point guard role and pair with Danny Green to make up the Lakers’ starting backcourt.
The Lakers have other options at point guard such as Rajon Rondo, new addition Quinn Cook and Alex Caruso. Moving James to the point guard position gives the Lakers even more depth at the position.
The Lakers are in a completely different position than their 2018-19 season. Their new additions make them a playoff-bound team and legitimate competition for other Western Conference teams such as the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers have made several moves, and James’ role change could be the move they need.
James’ potential move to point guard is a change, but something James can handle. Throughout his career, James has had a knack for being a facilitator. In his 2017-18 season, James averaged a career-high 9.1 assists. In his first season with the Lakers, he averaged 8.3 assists. His career average is 7.2. James is familiar with being a playmaker and getting his teammate involved. This move only enhances his abilities.
James starting at the point guard position is an interesting move, but given his history, James and the Lakers can make it work.
