Basketball on Christmas Day is an NBA tradition that dates back to 1947. The holiday features a set of marquee matchups around the league, notably games that usually feature some sort of storyline.
The Christmas Day game schedule for the 2019-2020 season has been set, according to ESPN sources. Here are the team matchups:
Clippers vs. Lakers– The biggest matchup of Christmas Day features the two L.A. teams going head-to-head. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will face LeBron James and Anthony Davis, making for an exciting matchup of the league’s best duos.
Bucks @ Sixers- A potential Eastern Conference Finals preview, the reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Bucks team will head to Philly to take on the new-look Sixers led by Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and Al Horford.
Celtics @ Raptors- Kemba Walker will lead the Celtics into Canada to face a Raptors team that will likely still be adjusting after Kawhi Leonard’s departure.
Pelicans @ Nuggets- Zion Williamson and the Pelicans’ young core will get some national coverage as they take on Nikola Jokic’s deep Denver team.
Rockets @ Warriors- James Harden and new Rocket Russell Westbrook will face the Warriors, led by Steph Curry and D’Angelo Russell, in the team’s new San Fransisco arena.
