The New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces face each other on Saturday, August 17 at 4pm in a 2023 WNBA Finals rematch.
This will be their second matchup of the season. The two previously faced each other on June 15 with the Liberty winning, 90-82. However, Chelsea Gray did not play this game due to injury.
This will also be the Aces first game back from Olympic break. The Liberty handily defeated the Los Angeles Spark 103-68 on Thursday for their first game back.
Key Matchup of the Game
The key matchup of the game to watch will be A’ja Wilson versus Breanna Stewart. The two just won an Olympic gold medal together but they have been battling on court for years now.
The each won a pair of WNBA MVP awards: Stewart in 2018 and 2023 and Wilson in 2020 and 2022. The MVP race was extremely close last year between Stewart and Wilson and the media hyped up the rivalry. It was heightened even more when the two faced each other in the WNBA Finals as well.
Stewart ended up winning with 446 total MVP voting points, Alyssa Thomas came in second with 439 and Wilson came in third with 433.
