In recent weeks, it has been announced that the Backyard Sports games are coming back. Playground Productions are bringing the games back. There are limited details so far, but more will come in the future. With the games returning, I figured I’d review my starting lineup for Backyard Baseball.
1. Dante Robinson, CF
While Pete Wheeler is a popular choice, Robinson is maxed out at speed as well. His twirling swing usually generates little contact, but every once in a while he gets a hold of one. He is the perfect leadoff hitter.
*Pete Wheeler is also a fast player, but I couldn’t handle his low IQ on this team. Hiis own player card says you have to point him in the right direction before he runs. Not worth the headache and hearing his commentary before he heads to the plate.
2. Pablo Sanchez, 2B
Pablo could be moved down to give him more chance to knock in runs, but he also has speed. He was the power-hitting second baseman before Chase Utley made it popular. The secret weapon has to be on the team and he even has a nice fastball if relief pitching is needed.
3. Achmed Khan, LF
If Dante and Pablo get on base, Achmed can drive them in. He smacks home runs over the left field wall routinely and has good home run music to listen to while he rounds the bases.
4. Kiesha Phillips, RF
Kiesha is a pure power hitter, but she can also run. She has a long, loopy swing that helps her hit plenty of home runs. She can play outfield, but she also is a prototypical first baseman.
5. Tony Delvecchio, 3B
Tony is limited at running, so putting him at a corner infield spot helps maximize his value. It looks like he is throwing his back out when he swings, but he has some pop in his bat, making him the perfect guy to follow up the power hitters in the lineup.
6. Amir Khan, C
Amir is similar to his brother, but he is younger, so he has less power. He is a better pitcher than his brother and can be used in emergencies.
7. Jocinda Smith, 1B
Jocinda hits and fields well, which helps provide her value. She can be played at first base, third base or catcher, due to her limited range in the field.
8. Stephanie Morgan, SS
While her fielding isn’t maxed out, Stephanie was born to play shortstop. It even says it in her player card. She won’t hit many homers, but she can put the ball in play.
9. Kenny Kawaguchi, P
Kenny is a great pitcher. He spins his wheelchair around and gets the ball over the plate. While he doesn’t pitch with much velocity, he places it right where he wants to. The hitting won’t do much for the team, but there is no better pitcher in the game.
