The Montreal Canadiens announced that rookie forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi will be a healthy scratch for Saturday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets. This will be the third scratch of the month for the 18-year-old rookie.
Montreal is currently tied with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Head coach Claude Julien made the decision to have Matthew Peca to replace Kotkaniemi.
There were reports saying the young Finnish forward showed signs of fatigue in recent games.
This season he has 11 goals and 23 assists in 76 games. Montreal opponents, Winnipeg Jets, are leading the Central Division of the Western Conference.
