Bo Nickal entered the Dana White’s Contender Series to try to earn a UFC contract with just one MMA fight under his belt. Nickal won his contest in DWCS Week 3 and was offered another appearance on the show.
Dominant Early Career
Bo Nickal is one of the hottest prospects in the sport. Nickal was a highly accomplished wrestler at Penn State where he won three national championships and won the Big Ten Athlete of the Year. He soon transitioned to MMA and in his first ever fight Nickal knocked his opponent out within the first minute. This fight answered the question if the young wrestler had a stand up game.
Soon after his first ever MMA fight Nickal was slotted to fight in DWCS as the main event. Nickal was so dominant in the fight that he wasn’t touched once. He immediately slammed his opponent and choked him out with a little over a minute expired. This win makes Nickal 2-0 in MMA with two short dominant finishes to his resume.

Dana’s Decision
Dana White offered Nickal a UFC developmental contract. He will come back on DWCS and if he wins he is in. “A contract isn’t my goal, my goal is to be a UFC champion.” Nickal stated. With Nickal’s MMA record being very bare this was the best route for someone as talented as Nickal. With one more win Nickal will find himself in the UFC with only going through three fights.
As of now the UFC Middleweight Division is top heavy and aging with the exception of few. With Nickal’s first UFC appearance coming soon, he will be the injection of talent and youth the division needs. Also, fighters with the wrestling and striking talent that Nickal seems to posses is very rare. If he can prove to have the total package Nickal will fly through the rankings quickly. But first Nickal needs to be tested in MMA. So far, he has yet to be touched. When Bo Nickal is tested in a fight and comes out on top UFC middleweights need to watch out.
