Jamahal Hill’s return to the octagon may come sooner than fight fans have been anticipating. The former light heavyweight champion teases his potential return through a social media post. Hill made the decision to vacate his title in 2023, after suffering an injury to his Achilles tendon. Before his unfortunate injury, Hill was on a tear inside the UFC’s light heavyweight division. The former champion was on a four fight win streak, with impressive victories over Johnny Walker and Glover Teixeira. His only loss inside the octagon came against Paul Craig in 2021. Hill lost by submission, but hasn’t dropped a fight since then.
After his Achilles injury, Hill’s decision to vacate his championship title was an honorable thing to do. He wasn’t asked, or forced to do so, and there’s plenty of athletes who wouldn’t have made the same choice. Due to his decision, and considering he’s been one of the most exciting finishers inside of the division, his return bout could end up being for the light heavyweight title or a number one contender spot. The current champion of the division, Alex Pereira is expected to have his first title defense announced in the near future. Jamahal Hill may be the opponent for the newly crowned champion, but only time will tell.
