Fantasy Football Week 8 Wide Receiver Rankings

Publish Date: October 27, 2022

The 2022-23 NFL season has already been extremely entertaining. Bye weeks are starting to take place. This means that wide receivers like Mike Williams and JuJu Smith-Schuster will be out this week. On top of that injuries have started to mount up at this point of the season. It is always a great idea to evaluate backup options so that way fantasy managers are prepared if star players miss time. Here are the fantasy football week 8 wide receiver rankings.

*Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to reserve/COVID-19 list*

(Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week)

Key:

Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.

Starting WR1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.

High WR2- a player who may isn’t likely to carry a lineup that week, but has the ability to have a breakout game and is teetering between WR1 and WR2 territory.

Starting WR2- a player who should be started in most lineups and should reach their point projection. This player is started is because of their consistency and moderately high floor

Low WR2- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not. Their production may not be pretty or win a person their lineup but the production is consistent enough to make a fantasy owner comfortable starting them.

Flex- a player who could float around the territory of being benched, but is started due to the potential to play better than their point projection. However, this player has the potential to flop and causes a fantasy team to lose if he has a bad game.

Deeper League Flex- a player who has starting value in deeper leagues. There are enough reasons to leave this player on the bench, but their upside makes them an attractive option. Desperate times may call for a player like this to be inserted into starting lineups.

Upside Player- a player who is boom or bust. This player can exceed expectations in a given week or could flop and be the reason why someone lost their fantasy matchup.

Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday

Las Vegas Raiders Wide Receivers: WR6 Davante Adams, WR56 Hunter Renfrow, WR61 Mack Hollins

Davante Adams missed practice Wednesday because of an illness. Hunter Renfrow was limited in practice Wednesday because of a hip injury. Mack Hollins was limited in practice Wednesday because of a heel injury. If all three do not play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints then Keelan Cole would be the number one wide receiver for this offense.

If Adams is inactive then Renfrow would move up to WR22 between Michael Pittman Jr. and D.J. Moore. Hollins would move up to WR44 between Chase Claypool and Romeo Doubs. If Adams and one of the other receivers are inactive then the remaining receiver should be a top-30 wide receiver this week.

If Adams is active but one of the other receivers is active then the remaining receiver will slot in at WR44 between Chase Claypool and Romeo Doubs.

Detroit Lions Wide Receivers: WR7 Amon-Ra St. Brown & WR46 Josh Reynolds

Amon-Ra St. Brown was limited in practice because he is in concussion protocol. However St. Brown is expected to play because he hasn’t been diagnosed with a concussion. Josh Reynolds missed practice on Wednesday because of a knee injury. If Reynolds misses this week’s game against the Miami Dolphins Tom Kennedy would be the next receiver to step up for Detroit.

WR9 Jaylen Waddle, Miami Dolphins

Jaylen Waddle was limited in practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury. He has been dealing with this issue for two weeks. If Waddle is unable to play Trent Sherfield and Cedrick Wilson become interesting DFS plays this week.

WR14 Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers

Deebo Samuel missed practice Wednesday because of a hamstring issue. If he is unable to play this week against the Los Angeles Rams Brandon Aiyuk would move up to WR17 between D.K. Metcalf and Amari Cooper.

Seattle Seahawks Wide Receivers: WR17 D.K. Metcalf &WR21 Tyler Lockett

D.K. Metcalf participated a walkthrough on Wednesday because he is dealing with a knee injury. Tyler Lockett was limited in practice on Wednesday with a hamstring injury. If both are inactive against the New York Giants this week Marquise Goodwin moves up to WR36 between Curtis Samuel and Darnell Mooney.

If Metcalf is inactive and Lockett is active then Lockett would move up to WR18 between Amari Cooper and Courtland Sutton. Goodwin would join the list at WR43 between Chase Claypool and Romeo Doubs.

If Metcalf is active and Lockett is inactive then Metcalf would move up to WR16 between Chris Olave and Miike Evans. Goodwin would join the list at WR43 between Chase Claypool and Romeo Doubs.

WR28 Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints

Michael Thomas has missed the past four games with a foot injury. He missed practice on Wednesday because of the injury. If Thomas misses this week’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders Jarvis Landry moves up to WR56 between Hunter Renfrow and Alec Pierce.

Green Bay Packers Wide Receivers: WR31 Allen Lazard, WR70 Sammy Watkins, WR76 Christian Watson

Allen Lazard missed practice on Wednesday because of a shoulder injury. Sammy Watkins was limited in practice on Wednesday with a hamstring injury. Christian Watson was limited in practice on Wednesday with a hamstring injury too. The feeling so far is that there is a legitimate chance Lazard misses this game. If he was to miss this game it would be hard for anyone besides Romeo Doubs except in the deepest of leagues to trust any Packers receivers except in extremely deep fantasy leagues.

WR33 Rashod Bateman, Baltimore Ravens

Rashod Bateman is considered questionable for Thursday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a foot injury. If he misses the game then Devin Duvernay moves up to WR46 between Josh Reynolds and Garrett Wilson.

WR51 Julio Jones, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Julio Jones has missed five of the past six games with a knee injury. He is considered a game-time decision to play against Baltimore on Thursday. If Jones doesn’t play against the Baltimore Ravens Breshad Perriman would move up to WR57 between Alec Pierce and Isaiah McKenzie.

WR68 Van Jefferson, Los Angeles Rams

Van Jefferson was designated to return from Injured Reserve on Monday. He is questionable to play this weekend against San Francisco. If Jefferson isn’t active this weekend then Ben Skowronek will move up to WR68 between Marvin Jones Jr. and Braxton Berrios.
