Fantasy Football Week 3 Wide Receiver Rankings

Publish Date: September 22, 2022

The 2022-23 NFL season began two weeks ago which means so did fantasy football. After getting a taste of the NFL season last week, it is important not to overreact and make some risky moves when setting lineups for this week. For the first few weeks, fantasy managers should pay attention to trends that they see from teams that could shape the rest of the season. Here are fantasy football week 3 wide receiver rankings.

*Ratings are subject to change due to injury reports or possible move to reserve/COVID-19 list*

(Check out the section below for details on players already rumored to possibly miss this week and how their replacement options rank for the week)

Key:

Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circumstances. They will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.

Starting WR1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.

High WR2- a player who may isn’t likely to carry a lineup that week, but has the ability to have a breakout game and is teetering between WR1 and WR2 category.

Starting WR2- a player who should be started in most lineups and should reach their point projection. This player is started is because of their consistency and moderately high floor

Low WR2- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not. Their production may not be pretty or win a person their lineup but the production is consistent enough to make a fantasy owner comfortable starting them.

Flex- a player who could float around the territory of being benched, but is started due to the potential to play better than their point projection. However, this player has the potential to flop and causes a fantasy team to lose if he has a bad game.

Deeper League Flex- a player who has starting value in deeper leagues. There are enough reasons to leave this player on the bench, but their upside makes them an attractive option. Desperate times may call for a player like this to be inserted into starting lineups.

Upside Player- a player who is boom or bust. This player can exceed expectations in a given week or could flop and be the reason why someone lost their fantasy matchup.

Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday

Indianapolis Colts Wide Receivers: WR10 Michael Pittman Jr. & WR85 Alec Pierce

Michael Pittman Jr. missed last week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a quad injury. Alec Pierce missed Sunday’s game with a concussion. Pittman Jr. was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. Pierce went through a full practice on Wednesday. That is a good sign for their statuses for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. If Pittman Jr. is out this week but Pierce is healthy then Pierce moves up to WR44 between Chris Olave and Mecole Hardman. Ashton Dulin would then move up to WR62 between Michael Gallup and Mack Hollins.

If Pierce is out on Sunday and Pittman Jr. is healthy then Ashton Dulin moves up to WR44 between Chris Olave and Mecole Hardman.

If both Pierce and Pittman Jr. are out on Sunday then Ashton Dulin moves up to WR40 between JuJu Smith-Schuster and Brandon Aiyuk. After Dulin the next best Colts pass catchers would be Mike Stratchan and Dezmon Patmon.

WR11 Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers

Keenan Allen missed last Thursday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a hamstring injury. As right now ” he has a shot” of playing Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If Allen cannot play against Jacksonville on Sunday then Mike Williams moves up to WR21 between Rashod Bateman and Courtland Sutton. Joshua Palmer moves up to WR42 between Treylon Burks and Tyler Lockett. DeAndre Carter joins the list at WR62 between Michael Gallup and Mack Hollins.

WR27 Gabe Davis, Buffalo Bills

Bills receiver Gabe Davis missed last Monday’s game against the Tennessee Titans with an ankle injury. He was limited on practice on Wednesday. If he misses this week’s game against the Miami Dolphins then Isaiah McKenzie moves up to WR60 between Corey Davis and Michael Gallup.

WR29 Julio Jones, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Julio Jones missed last week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys with a knee injury. That same injury held him out of practice Wednesday. If Jones cannot go this weekend against the Green Bay Packers then Russell Gage moves up to WR35 between Allen Robinons and Jerry Jeudy. Breshad Perriman would move up to WR43 between Tyler Lockett and and Brandon Aiyuk.

WR32 Hunter Renfrow, Las Vegas Raiders

Hunter Renfrow suffered a concussion on the final play of the Raiders game against the Arizona Cardinals. He missed practice on Wednesday because of the concussion. If Renfrow misses this week’s game against the Tennessee Titans then Mack Hollins will move up to WR53 between Nico Collins and D.J. Chark.

WR36 Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos

Jerry Jeudy suffered a rib injury against the Houston Texans last week. He missed practice on Wednesday because of the injury. If Jeudy misses this week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers then Courtland Sutton retains his ranking at WR22. K.J. Hamler or Tyrie Cleveland would step up as Denver’s number two receiver in Jeudy’s absence.

WR45 Mecole Hardman, Kansas City Chiefs

Mecole Hardman was limited in practice Wednesday because of a heel injury. If Hardman was to miss this week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts then JuJu Smith-Schuster would move up to WR37 between Jerry Jeudy and Sterling Shepard. Marquez Valdes-Scantling would move up to WR55 between Zay Jones and Robby Anderson. Skyy Moore would then join the list at WR65 between Jarvis Landry and Marvin Jones Jr.

WR50 Ronald Moore, Arizona Cardinals

Cardinals wide receiver Rondale Moore missed Arizona’s past two games with a hamstring injury. He missed practice Wednesday because of the hamstring issue. If he cannot play this week then Greg Dortch moves up to WR52 between Allen Lazard and Nico Collins. A.J. Green retains his value at WR76.

WR61 Michael Gallup, Dallas Cowboys

There’s a chance Michael Gallup makes his season debut this week against the New York Giants. If he doesn’t play this week then Noah Brown would move up to WR64 between Jarvis Landry and Marvin Jones Jr. There is also a chance that third round pick Jalen Tolbert could be activated this week. If that is the case he becomes an interesting add in deeper leagues.

WR63 Van Jefferson, Los Angeles Rams

Van Jefferson the past two games with a knee issue. There is a chance he is also inactive for Los Angeles’ Week 2 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. If Jefferson misses this week’s game then Ben Skowronek would join the list at WR79 between Olamide Zaccheaus and George Pickens.

WR73 Wan’Dale Robinson, New York Giants

Wan’Dale Robinson missed last week’s game with a knee injury. He was active on the side during practice on Wednesday. If Robinson misses this week’s game expect Richie James to have a bigger role in this offense.

WR74 Devin Duvernay, Baltimore Ravens

Devin Duvernay suffered a concussion against the Miami Dolphins last week. If he misses this week’s game against the New England Patriots Tylan Wallace or Demarcus Robinson are expected to step up as Baltimore’s second wide receiver in two receiver sets.
