Evloev Defeats Allen by Decision to Remain Undefeated

Publish Date: February 2, 2024

One of the more eye-catching fights that took place last Saturday was the matchup between Movsar Evloev and Arnold Allen. The matchup between the two top-ten ranked featherweights opened up the UFC 297 main card. Evloev defeated Allen by decision to remain undefeated, boasting an impressive 18-0 record. By the end of the fight, fans were wishing it had been five rounds instead of three. Allen’s record shifts to 19-3-0, and he’s now on a two fight losing skid. On the other hand, Evloev is on an eight fight winning streak. However, has yet to finish a fight inside the UFC octagon, with all of his wins coming by way of decision.

How Does This Affect the Featherweight Rankings?

Due to this impressive win over Allen, Evloev has officially breached the top-5 of the featherweight division. He’s currently sitting at number five, and Allen has moved down to number six in the world. With an eight fight win streak, an undefeated record and a top-5 ranking, Evloev’s next fight will be against someone inside the top-5. Allen on the other hand, will still have a match against someone in the top-ten. He did lose by unanimous decision, however it was a closely skilled match, and Evloev just barely stole each round. The fight between two of the best featherweights on the planet sure did pay off, and it makes the division a whole lot more interesting to follow.
