Defenseman Esa Lindell signed a six-year, $34.8 million contract with the Dallas Stars on Thursday. The 24-year-old annual average value will be $5.8 million. The signature prevents him from being a restricted free agent on July 1.

Lindell’s Stats And Numbers
This season Lindell had a career-best 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists) in all 82 regular season games. Lindell is an important piece in the Stars lineup as he led the team in blocked shots (161), second on average ice-time (24:20), third in plus-minus (+14) and third in hits (143).
During this year Stanley Cup Playoffs, he played 13 games and scored four points (1 goal, 3 assists). He averaged 26:58 ice time per game and had a plus-minus of +4.
The Finland native was selected by the Stars in the third round (No.74) of the 2012 NHL Draft. He played all 239 career NHL games with the Stars and has 77 points (24 goals, 52 assists).
