Publish Date: March 18, 2024

The Anaheim Ducks fell to the St. Louis Blues Sunday night 4-2.

Robert Thomas had two goals for the Blues. Pavel Buchnevich had three assists for the Blues and Justin Faulk added two assists. Kevin Hayes and Jake Neighbours added a goal each for St. Louis.

For the Ducks it was Troy Terry tallying two goals to take care of the scoring. Alex Killorn, Leo Carlsson, Pavel Mintyukov, Jackson LaCombe all added assists.

In the first period with 6:19 left to go Troy Terry collected a rebound off a Pavel Mintyukov shot to give the Ducks the early 1-0 lead.

That would be the period’s lone goal and Anaheim would leave the first up 1-0.

Next, in the second period, Kevin Hayes would tie things up for the Blues with when he rebounded a Torey Krug shot.

The second period would end with a tied 1-1 score.

St. Louis would control the third period, as penalty minutes were a problem for the Ducks once more. The Ducks would spend 12 minutes in the box. Robert Thomas would give the Blues a 2-1 lead with a power play goal.

Then at 6:12, Jake Neighbours would extend the lead to 3-1 after another Blues power play by tipping in a shot from Brayden Schenn to beat Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal.

Once more the Blues would score on the power play. Another goal from Robert Thomas once more on an assist from Pavel Buchnevich. Giving St. Louis a 4-1 lead.

Troy Terry would make things a bit closer with a snap shot goal to make things 4-2 a bit too late, with just eight seconds to play.

St. Louis takes the season series with the win and will visit the Honda Center on April seventh for the two team’s final meeting of the season.

This is the Ducks sixth loss in a row and seventh in the last eight games. Anaheim was given up 31 goals during the six game skid.

Anaheim’s penalty kill struggled, allowing three goals on six opportunities. The Ducks have struggled with being in the penalty box all season.

The Ducks offense competed out shooting St. Louis 29-28. It was a good start in net for St. Louis’ goalie Joel Hofer who stopped 27 shots.

Next the Ducks will return home to the Honda Center for a matchup with the Minnesota Wild. The game will decide the season series as the Ducks beat the Wild back in January, but it was Minnesota beating the Ducks this past Thursday 2-0.

You can catch the matchup Tuesday at 10:00 P.M. EDT 7:00 P.M. PDT on NHL Power Play on ESPN+ and HULU.
