Drew Brees has decided to call his career to an end he announced on social media on Sunday.
Brees, 42, spent 20 years in the NFL with the Chargers and Saints. He is a 13-time Pro Bowler, one-time Super Bowl champ and one-time All-Pro. He currently is the career leader in passing yards with 80,358 and is second in passing touchdowns with 571.
Early in his career, Brees had a career-threatening arm injury when he was with the Chargers. Although the future of his career looked bleak, he was able to reach new heights after signing with the New Orleans Saints.
Brees will move on to be an announcer with NBC Sports.
The Saints will move ahead with Taysom Hill at the quarterback position, but they may make some moves in free agency to acquire some competition.
