New England Patriots defensive back Devin McCourty has officially announced his retirement. He announced it on Instagram, then tweeted a link to that announcement on his Twitter page. He played in the NFL for 13 seasons.
The Patriots congratulated McCourty on his retirement via Twitter on Friday.
McCourty was chosen by the Patriots in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Rutgers, and remained in New England for the entirety of his 13 season career. During his time there, he won three Super Bowls.
Among other accomplishments, McCourty was a Pro Bowler twice, was chosen to the Second Team All-Pro three times and made the Pro Football Writers Association’s All-Rookie Team. He also had the opportunity to play with and win a Super Bowl with his twin brother, Jason, in 2018.
