The Orioles have officially announced the Dan Straily deal. They sent the struggling right-hander to the Phillies for cash.

Dan Straily has struggled in the big leagues this season. Through 14 appearances, he posted a 9.82 ERA. He allowed 22 home runs in just 47 2/3 innings pitched. He has since been demoted to triple-A Norfolk where he has a 2.38 ERA with a 0.941 WHIP through six starts. Straily didn’t have much to pitch for on a last place Orioles team. However, he may be able to work his way to the Phillies rotation if he pitches well enough. Lastly, he can use the fact that this team is in the Wild Card hunt as motivation as well.
Dan Straily is going to stay in triple-A with the Phillies as they will send cash to Baltimore.
