The rookie out of Houston may get a start in Week 9, as the Cardinals play the waiting game on Kyler Murray. Clayton Tune is slated to be the starter after Arizona has traded away eight-week starter Josh Dobbs to the Vikings.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Tune was chosen by the Cardinals in Round 5 of the 2023 NFL Draft, 139th overall. He spent five years at the University of Houston, earning a First Team All-AAC selection back in 2022. His games played and games started rose every year he was in school.
So far this season, Tune has played in one game, thrown and completed one pass for a total of four yards. That’s the extent of his NFL experience up until his first start in Week 9. It is being surmised that Murray isn’t being 100 percent ruled out to start, but it is very unlikely as he heals from a major injury suffered during last season.
